Getting to Know Liz
My Movement Bio
Chronic asthma and hyper-mobile joints made childhood challenging. But it did spark a fascination with health/fitness very early in life. Eventually I became a fitness trainer in 2003, and became a Polestar Pilates Practitioner in 2005. While much of my career life was as a freelance teacher in & around Kuala Lumpur, I've been so tremendously blessed with the opportunity to work in other countries worldwide, alongside fellow practitioners who were taught under various Pilates elders.
In 2010, I added more tools to my belt, certifying in Gyrotonic & Gyrokinesis. And after 15 years as a passionate students, I decided it was the right time to be certified as a yoga teacher.
My Bodywork Bio
As much as I love movement. I felt like something was missing link in my sessions. No doubt movement is crucial to one's wellbeing but it has its limit. My curiosity kicked in and I decided to dive head first (that's how I do things) into manual therapy.
While studying a year of sports massage therapy in 2013 in the North London School of Sports Massage (NLSSM), I discovered Ten Hot Spots and Unwinding the Spine by Noah Karrasch. His bio can be found here http://www.ourbodyspace.com/developer/
In short, this man changed my world! I found his approach easy to understand and down to earth, and he is quite an entertaining character as well.
Again I was blessed to have the opportunity to travel & learn with him - UK, US , Jamaica. I also had the amazing opportunity to co author alongside Noah and Robert White on the book BodyMindCORE Work for the Movement Therapist: Leading Clients to CORE Breath and Awareness, published May 2017.
OurBodySpace and I brought Noah Karrasch to Asia for the first time ever in December 2017! What a feat! I still am in awe whenever I stop and think about it.
I am a CORE IV Bodyworker, and currently one of the only 2 certified CORE Level II Instructors in the world. I am based in KL but I do travel to train anyone who is passionate, committed and willing to learn - and that can be in either CORE Fascial Release, Pilates or yoga. I am game if everyone is game!
With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, I don't think I'll stop exploring various modalities and ideas of human mechanics and bioenergetics. Come on, it's the human body! Don't You think it's interesting?
What else about me?
I manage my life in halves. Half of my life in Sarawak, (the Borneo side of Malaysia), half of my life in Kuala Lumpur. Half the time in contemplation, half the time in burst of action. Half Sarawakian, Half Latin America. Half calm, half feisty. Half traveller, half homebody.
Passionately creative. Happily vegan. Cuss-aholic. Lover of wigs and flair.
And that's about it. Again, you are welcomed to explore the deeper side of me via Facebook and Instagram. Workshops and event are in the Learning Planner page!
See you in the future, dearest fellow human. One day soon.
