Instructor: Danica Al Kharfan
Do you practice yoga but don’t feel comfortable going into a headstand during the class yet? Or are you practicing the headstand but finding it difficult to get away from the wall? Or you wish to learn a tripod headstand? Then this workshop is for you!
Headstand ( Sirsasana) is named “ King of Asanas” and when practiced regularly it has many physiological and psychological health benefits.
In a vinyasa class it is hard to learn the posture as it requires proper alignement, muscle engagement and core activation.
So in this 2 hour workshop you will learn:-
- a step by step approach to learn or master this pose
- guidence and instructions to practice safely
- variations and different ways of support
- ideas and tools to incorporate headstand or its variations into your practice
This workshop will include a preparatory flow practice which will warm us up to strengthen the upper body, shoulders and core.
This will be followed by various exercises using the wall, props and partners. No previous headstand experience necessary but some basic yoga experience needed; headstand beginners are offered skill-building tools & advanced students are provided with opportunities to refine alignment or learn other variations of headstand.
But everyone will have the opportunity to go upside down and do it so in a safe and supported way!
Please note: You don’t need to be able to do full headstand to attend, as all options, instructions and support with be given. This workshop is not for those who have any neck injury, have a high blood pressure or heart condition.
