About the training:-

Yoga is growing in popularity, with more studios opening in every corner of the world. This training is an internationally recognized certification through Yoga Alliance, giving you a ticket to see and work anywhere in the world.

With our part-time teacher training, you can continue with your day-today life; whether its work, looking after your family and other life responsibilities. You will also have more time for the information to “settle in” rather than rushing through the content over a short time. You will have more time to read, practice and teach, and you can begin yo incorporate yoga lifestyle principles and philsophies into your life as it is now.

With 3000 hours of teaching experience and qualification between Kristen and Natalie, the training will give you the tools needed to become a confident and information-rich yoga teacher. You will develop useful public speaking skills and learn to communicate effectively, voicing your thoughts, feels and opinions with clarity and confidence. All of this will combine to give you the invaluavle business skills needed to establish yourself as an independent yoga teacher to make yoga work for you!

For ant practitioner who has been practicing for a number of years, this is a great way to understand yoga in more depth. Even if you’re not interested in teaching right away, this training will broaden your practice immensly.

You will learn to apply anatomy, physiology and philosophy into your current practice, and see your practice TRANSFORM! You will understand more clearly how yoga can be weaved into your daily life, even off the mat. Through learning new things, you will STIMULATE YOUR BRAIN and CHALLENGE YOURSELF mentally and physically. This is just like going back to school or university: but this time the topic of conversation is YOGA. You will be met with study times, class times, practice time and homework time.

As life continues, we forget about ourselves as responsibilities take over and we put ourselves last. This is something for YOU. Time for yourself to relearn, refresh and rejuvinate and perhaps, get some new insight into life.

Training Dates:-

The course is broken down into seven sessions. Each session includes four evening classes and two full weekend classes. The final 7th session of the training will be a “surprise” getaway session. Within the four month time period, students are also required to complete an additional 20 classes (outside of the schedule training hours) as well as time to complete homework assignments. All sessions are mandatory in order to obtain full qualification. But if you have conflicting dates, please talk with us and we may be able to help you with make up options.

This is a class for people who want to increase their flexibility and mobility in order to be more embodied. Many people find that after years of stretching and doing yoga, they still have tension and stiffness in their bodies.

Chronic tension and stiffness are simply places in our body where the energy is blocked and can’t flow, or places where it has been trapped and often both. The stiffness that we feel is the result of blockages in the fascia. The connective tissue that covers our muscle. When we are sedentary or have bad posture, the fascia takes on the shape we give it, and fascia has the same tensile strength as steel.

Dance of the Dragon Myofascial Qigong releases chronic tension and stiffness through soft, flowing movement. It focuses on exercises that unwind the fascia and create fluidity of movement. The body becomes more connected, improving balance and coordination. We move with less effort and the practice tends to increase our life-force energy.

This class creates a deeper understanding of how to more effectively increase flexibility and range of motion, allowing the tissues to open so that the energy can flow more freely, making your entire practice more free, embodied, and sensual. You come to understand how to stretch more effectively and use gentle movement to unwind the fascia and release the joints.

About David Lee
I have more energy, vitality, and greater mobility at age 70 than I had when I was 40. Although I have been practicing yoga, qigong, and martial arts for more than 30 years, up until the last 5 years or so I was not able to overcome the chronic tension and stiffness in my body, as much as I tried. I just believed that some people are more flexible than others and that that was genetic. Through studying the principles of the myofascial system, I have developed techniques to overcome tension and stiffness, that made me feel like a prisoner in my own body for most of my life.

I have been teaching at The Yoga Barn in Ubud, Bali and have recently been teaching and doing workshops in Los Angeles, and here in KL at Our Body Space. I am in KL for the entire month of June.

This four-hour workshop is designed to support professionals that work with pregnant women in their pregnancy so they can gain more awareness of the changes the pregnant women's bodies go through in pregnancy, labor and chilldbirth and how they can integrate this knowledge into their practice. It is an opportunity to learn about the natural physiology of this amazing process of generating life then giving birth to it so that your practice is more aligned with pregnant women's bodies' needs. When a pregnant woman walks into your class and you don't know what to do or you feel fearful, this class is for you. If you are already a prenatal yoga or pilates teacher and would like to deepen your understanding of this fantastic process and learn another way of how to work with pregnant clients, this workshop is for you.

Maíra has developed a unique way of working with women during their pregnancy. In her practice, she has incorporated elements from Hatha, Kundalini and Integrative Yoga. Furthermore, aspects of the sacred feminine as well as relaxation and visualization techniques are also present in her work. She has come to appreciate and incorporate elements from the sacred dance of the womb (belly dancing for birth) in a very mindful and present way. Thanks to her background as a birth worker, birthkeeper and her work as a birth doula, Maíra has a very intimate understanding and a broader view of what women's unique pregnant bodies' needs are. She encourages mothers to go deep within their bodies and conncet with their baby in the womb through breath awareness and gentle movement. Some of the amazing people who have inspired her to create this work are Gurmukh Kaul Khalsa, Vanda Scaravelli, Shilpa Ghatalia, Isadora Duncan, Maria Fux, Pio Campo, Michel Odent, Ibu Robin Lim, Maha Al Musa and all the woderful mothers she has had the priviledge to work with.

This workshop is for yoga teachers, pilates teachers, dance teachers, body workers, doulas, midwives, childbirth educators or anyone just really interested in learning more and/or deepening their knowledge of women's amazing bodies so they have more tools to work with pregnant women.

Maíra Dias Botelho de Magalhães is a woman who believes in women's innate ability to create, generate, give birth to and nurture and nourish life. She has given birth to four wonderful beings and mothers them with all her heart, in an ever learning process. She is a birth doula who has supported dozens of families in their journey in bringing their babies earthside. She has been a classical ballerina, an actress, a singer and a school teacher. She has found that through yoga, mindful movement, dance and meditation she can connect to her inner self and thus she can be with other women sharing with them how they too can find themselves once they have connected with their yoni, womb and heart. She is on a mission to bring peace on Earth one woman, one baby, one birth at a time.

This is an ancient handcraft from indigenous tribes of America; the Huichol (Mexico) and several tribes from the amazon. They were called “OJOS DE DIOS” which means “the eye of god”. Traditionally used as protection amulets and power symbols.

You will properly learn how to weave your own 8 sided mandala. This workshop will give you plenty of know-how to continue to make your own mandalas at home.

Spiritual growth and creativity development through direct contact with colors, shapes and infinite possibilities that unravel creating a Mandala.

We're having a Thai Yoga Massage in a couple of weeks, Saturday 1 June 2019 hosted by accredited therapist Elena Gutnikova.

In this workshop we'll discover the successful principles of bodywork and will practice some basic movements from Thai massage, simple relaxation tricks collected around the world, dynamic manipulations and static pressures.

But most importantly, that special condition that makes the whole process a healing art. This is your opportunity to spend a meaningful day, learn how to touch people, get some basic and the most effective techniques to start your regular practice.

About trainer: Elena is an accredited therapist of advanced level, based in Bali. She's constantly improving her skills through relevant workshops, studying human anatomy and diverse therapeutic methods, practicing meditation and embodied yoga. Last two years Elena has organized multiple events, having trained groups in Spain, UK, Germany, Russia, Thailand, Indonesia. Never Old School is a project involving massage training and healthy soul events.

About the class: Massage is performed on a mat on the floor, enabling the giver to use bodyweight and gravity. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is worn, and no oils are used. We work in pairs, so bring a partner to join the class for a discounted price!

Increasingly, women across the globe are embracing the possibility of power and strength that manifests when we gather in Circle.  Seated in sacred Circle we are seen and we see.  Shoulder to shoulder we are reminded that we’re never alone.  Having our voices heard by our sisters invites a depth of intimacy – ‘into-me-I-see’ – that only serves to enhance our courage and bravery. 

On Sunday 14 April, Nadine McNeil will host Circle at OBS.  Please bring something to place at the center of the Circle – flowers, a photo, semi-precious stone, a piece of jewelry – anything that carries meaning for you as a woman. 

What is transformational coaching [TC]?

Unlike most coaching techniques offered that have a tendency to focus on goal setting and being result oriented, my unique approach is an invitation for the client to become aware of their limiting beliefs and how these stump their growth and potential for expansion. 

Founded on the principles of the Handel Group with whom I have studied, as a start, TC invites clients to focus on 4 basic areas in their lives.  A self-assessment is conducted and this forms the basis for the individual coaching sessions.

My intention is for the client to begin enjoying definitive results from their session immediately after each one. Provided the client commits to showing up for him or her self by doing the assigned work between sessions, they can be assured of shifts and results.  

GROUP TRANSFORMATION COACHING

This special offer is limited to a minimum of 4 persons and a maximum 8 persons.

How does it work?

Over a period of one month, we meet once weekly at a pre-determined time for a live 60-minute call. 

Each week’s session will focus on a particular topic.  Participants will be aware of the topic beforehand which gives you time to prepare any questions that you wish to receive coaching on regarding this topic.  The coaching will take place during the call. 

Upon conclusion of the call, you will receive an assignment to complete within the following week, prior to the next session.  You should be able to complete the assignment within 30 to 45 minutes. 

The group dynamic creates the opportunity for powerful shifts to quickly occur as oftentimes participants discover that their issue is also relevant to the other persons in the group.  The greatest benefit to this approach is knowing that you have the added support of your group members.

If this is of interest to you, our first session could take place in person on Sunday 14 April at 1PM

Subsequent sessions would happen via Skype or Zoom at the same time for 3 consecutive Sundays.

Badasana Series: Yoga With Weights Master Class

OurBodySpace is pleased to host a 90-minute Master class with the founder of the BadAsana Series: Yoga with Weights on Saturday 13 April at 12-1:30pm.

Integrating 1, 2 and 3 KG weights into a vinyasa flow practice this class:

  • Explores the foundational principles of the practice

  • Informs how and when to include weights in the asana

  • Highlights the importance of breath and proper alignment throughout the practice

  • Demonstrates how to integrate modifications that support pre-existing injuries as well as how weight integration helps to build strength and stamina

Upon conclusion of the class, there will be a short introduction about the upcoming 30-hour training immersion scheduled to take place 17 to 19 May 2019.

A workshop focusing on creating flexibility, mobility and strength, using slow flowing movements to circulate the body’s energy (qi). it is effective in unlocking stiff joints, muscles and disentangling fascial fibers, as well as reducing the amount of tension we hold, from bad postural habits and stress. This is particularly effective for people who engage in physical practices and find that they are still holding stiffness in their bodies. The movement, works deeply into the shoulders, hips and other areas that tend to get stuck,relieving pain and freeing up the movement. Qigong recognizes stiffness and immobility as energetic (qi) stagnation where emotional and physical energy has become blocked. The movements also stretch the meridians, allowing the qi from the organs to flow more freely in the body.Qigong increases somatic sensitivity, allowing us to feel deeply into our body, and it strengthens our postural integration, teaching the body to move as a unit rather than just a bunch of parts. The role of the fascia in flexibility has been recognized the last few years by by yoga and other movement teachers, but the Chinese described the role of the fascia in the oldest known medical text, The Yellow Emperor’’s Classic of Internal Medicine, more than two thousand years ago. Dance of the Dragon Qigong connects our energy to the infinite energy of the Universe, allowing us to create more energy with less effort.

Yarn Mandala Workshop (FULLY BOOKED)

This is an ancient handcraft from diverse indigenous tribes of America; the Huichol (Mexico) and several tribes from the amazon. They were called “OJOS DE DIOS” which means “the eye of god”. Traditionally used as protection amulets and power symbols. The process consists in weaving yarn upon wood sticks forming a concentric design. This can enable spiritual growth and creativity development due to the direct contact with the colors, shapes and the infinite possibilities that unravel creating a Mandala. As a decorative piece that can fulfill 2 purposes; adding beauty and transforming the energy of the space and the people. The sacred geometry pattern that represents allows the viewer to concentrate better, be more calm and clear.

This workshop allows to properly learn how to weave an 8 sided mandala and have it finished for participants to take home. The sessions are therapeutic spaces for developing creativity and learning. The conversation runs through the meanings of a mandala, our relation with the sacred geometry and our relationship with nature, as well as the benefits of involving on this creative process. The group is supporting each member with companionship and sharing; conversations are flexible and open for expressing current feelings and stories. This space comes out very inspiring and convenient. The dynamic lays on the swinging between the introvert part of weaving and the extrovert side when sharing.

About me

My name Is Adriana Olarte, i was born in Colombia. I’m an environmental Psychologist, I work with the environments where people live to transform their lives. I believe in art as a healing tool. I started to Weave with this technique in the beginning of 2011, I noticed the healing power of it by making them and being around them. At 2012 I started teaching for groups with people from all ages. I’ve notice the benefits of this activity in myself and in the people that have taken the workshop in the development of patience, self-esteem, concentration and creativity.

The FasciaMoves Workshop is a two and a half hour session (with appropriate breaks) comprising:

- About Fascia : An introductory presentation and discussion on fascia, its role, functions and care.
- Movement workshop: Exploration of breath in movement, uncommon (internal and external) spaces and use of the environment 

Workshop Facilitator

Cheah Su Lin

Certified Health Coach and Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise (ACE), with continuing training and education in Active Agers Training, Self-Myofascial Release and Functional Movement. She has also recently trained in CORE Fascial Release Therapy Level II. Su Lin is the creator of FasciaMoves, a unique movement regime of self-myofascial release techniques and movement flows.

Information for participants:

- This workshop is designed for free movement flows which include floor work.
- Participants are advised to be dressed in comfortable clothes that allow unrestricted movement of body. Personal towels and refreshment is recommended.
- OBS will provide yoga mats although participants may wish to bring their own. No additional equipment is required.

Courage is not the absence of fear but rather, the ability to move forward in the face of fear. How do we re-discover courage through the practice of AcroYoga? Find balance and learn to fall with a series of counterbalancing, human pyramid & uplifting partner movements. Finish with simple stretches and group massage. Workshop description
Learn the skills of “moving” and “connecting” with another person within the disciplines of AcroYoga. Sasa will lead you into a series of fundamental practices of taking flight, solid basing and spotting in this workshop. You will learn “play” like a child through movement exploration games and create own unique movement vocabulary. From there, you will explore partnering possibilities through a series of counterbalances, weight sharing and “monkey” games.

Together, we will discover what it means to be strong yet tender, energetic yet graceful. This is a practice of acrobatic + asana + dance with yogic awareness.
